English Heritage have made their decision which is a refusal to recommend listing. Their advice is attached.

At this stage we do not know whether the NHS Trust will develop the site to accommodate the new health facility or market it to a developer - for housing?

We must not give up the struggle to keep the historic buildings and encourage their sensitive and imaginative use for health and or residential uses.

Advice from Suffolk Preservation Society is that because the building is locally listed and is within the Conservation Area it has as much protection as if it were listed. I doubt if the Trust see it this way so there may be a battle ahead.
