Masonic Hall Review
A FEW MYSTERIES UNRAVELLED! On 23rd October members of the Society were given a tour of the Masonic Hall by Peter Thorogood, the Manager and curator of the Hall. The Masonic Hall was built in 1886 by Frederic Jennings. It has been modified over the years and now has a comfortable lounge bar and our members had the opportunity to visit the original Temple of Solomon, which is the basis for much of the symbolism and design of Masonic Temples. Mr. Thorogood explained about the three degrees through which a Mason has to go if he wants to become a Master and the various other orders available to him. Questions were invited and answered, then members were entertained to coffee and biscuits (or a drink) in the bar. A pleasant and friendly end to a totally fascinating and unusual visit. A full review will be available in the upcoming Newsletter. |
